| About | Samali has been teaching the Simply Music method since 2001, and was one of the first to teach Simply Music in Australia. Holding an “Advanced” teacher status, Samali has contributed to the Simply Music Teacher Training Workshop Series. Samali has a personal and professional interest in educational excellence which has influenced both the homeschooling of her children and her teaching of Simply Music. With a Western Classical training in both piano and clarinet, Samali has worked as an instrumental teacher at both St. Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls and John XXIII College in Perth, Western Australia. Samali has supported past students to follow an array of musical paths with some in professional music careers as singers, instrumentalists and piano teachers. However, the majority of Samali’s students have chosen to create a life long friendship with music through playing piano, maintaining it as an interest that gives them an experience of joy and personal well-being. Samali has a keen interest the area of special needs. She has taught students with a range of special circumstances such as; learning difficulties, ADHD, dyslexia, cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, rehabilitation from brain, wrist and arm surgery, finger amputees and autism. Since 2014 Samali has taught online lessons to students internationally and interstate (North America, Singapore, Europe, UK, Sri Lanka, South Australia) as well as coaching teachers interstate (NSW, TAS). Currently, Samali resides in Western Australia & teaches a flexible combination of in person lessons from her comfortable home studio in Nedlands as well as online lessons which allows her to cater for a wide range of students remotely in WA, interstate and overseas from the privacy of their own homes. Samali’s oldest beginning student was an 82 year old retired engineer who had a lifelong dream of playing piano. With Samali’s assistance he learned and played piano until he passed away at 86. It is never too late to begin discovering the joy of music!
